Wide Bay – High Desert is a project that commenced in 2013 with an exchange exhibition between Bundaberg Regional Galleries, Childers Arts Space – Childers, Queensland, Australia and Unsettled Gallery – Las Cruces New Mexico, USA. In 2013 8 artists were invited to create work for a two part exhibition opening in opposite sides of the world at exactly the same time. In the process of creating their work for exhibition the artists shared their experience and process through this blog site as they learnt about each other, their art practices, as well as their communities and culture.
In 2015 12 artists have been invited to participate in another exhibition which will open at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery and Unsettled Gallery in late August of 2015. This blog allows artists living and working in regional communities of the Wide Bay area of Queensland and the High Desert region of New Mexico to share their studio experiences and expand their professional networks to new audiences and their peers.
